Installation Questions

Required Recon-o-Sense Accessory Install Kit (Sold Separately):

● ⅞” (22mm) Drill Bit

● ⅞” (22mm) Coring Tube, with Turning and Plunging Rods

Required Supplies (Supplied by Installer):

- For 2-Ply SBS Roof Systems

    ● Manufacturers Approved White Pourable Sealer and Required Primers (To Install the Recon-o-Sense Indicator)

- For Single Ply Roof Systems (EPDM, TPO, PVC)

    ● Manufacturers Approved Primer for Single Ply Membranes (To Install the Recon-o-Sense Indicator)


Required Tools (Supplied by Installer):

● Tape Measure

● Scissors or use the supplied cutting tool in the install kit

● Marking pens or Marking Crayons

● Cordless Drill

-The Recon-o-Sense sensor can be installed at any location on the roof system, to maximize effectiveness, it is recommended that the sensors be installed at or near the following leak-prone locations:


● Walls or Parapet Walls

● Drains or Drain Sumps

● Curbs

● Sleepers

● Scuppers

● Flanged vents

● Roof pipe stacks

● locations of ponded water

- Currently works on conventional roof systems with EPDM, TPO, PVC, and 2 ply SBS membrane.

- Yes, but requires a 6" x 6" self-adhered base ply patch to be installed over the installed sensor as torching directly to the sensor will damage the product.

- Yes it can be replaced, but any leak that's caused the sensor to trigger would need to be repaired first.

- To install a new sensor a 6'x6' foot area surrounding the location of the new sensor would have to be cutout and removed then replaced with new insulation to prevent any existing wet insulation to trigger the replacement sensor.

- No, any wet or damp insulation can set off the trigger prematurely.

- No, The Recon-o-Sense sensor is a single use sensor and would need to be replaced with a new sensor.

- The roof system would also need to be dry in the area to reinstall a new sensor.
